STEVE INSKEEP, host:
Good morning, I'm Steve Inskeep.
Some people complained about the Oakmont Country Club, scene of the U.S. Open. The course was so tough that none of the golfers got close to par. But consider the golf course in Kabul. It has no grass - none. It does have weeds, rocks, mud and strands of barbed wire. It has greens made of sand and swarming with ants. The pleasant sights include an old Soviet tank. The Afghan golf pro, nevertheless, wants to improve it, and he's appealing for international aid.
