Newsom Says Recall Effort is Partisan: 'I Will Fight It'
California Gov. Gavin Newsom says he will fight the effort to remove him from office.
Supporters of the effort to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom have until Wednesday to turn in signatures. They need 1.5 million valid signatures to get the effort on the ballot.
Newsom has largely ignored the attempt to oust him from office, but this morning he fired off some tweets.
"I won't be distracted by this partisan, Republican recall -- but I will fight it. There is too much at stake."
Recall organizers said recently they've collected more than two million signatures -- they still need to be verified by state elections officials.
