LA County Reports 7,232 New COVID-19 Cases Since Thursday

L.A. County health officials confirmed 7,232 new cases of COVID-19 for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (The county's daily reports were delayed by a data system upgrade.) Friday marks the highest report of single-day new cases to date with 3,187.
The county reported 30 new deaths, but noted that the number is an undercount as "reported deaths are pending verification."
This brings the total number of cases to 107,667. As of Saturday, there were 1,921 people hospitalized; 28% in the ICU and 18% of them are on ventilators. The total number of deaths is 3,484.
By day, the numbers of new cases are as follows:
- Thursday, July 2: 2,643
- Friday, July 3: 3,187
- Saturday, July 4: 1,402
Orange County reported 413 newly-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday, along with three more deaths. This brings the county’s overall totals to 16,191 confirmed cases and 363 deaths.
