Heads up all you crate diggers: A record fair with around 80 different vendors hailing from West Covina to Holland is coming to downtown Los Angeles this weekend.

VinylCon! brought thousands of music lovers together in Philadelphia earlier this year. Now it’s L.A.’s turn.

Founder Kobi Waldfogel said there will be something for everyone at the two-day convention, from someone just getting started to the seasoned collector. Vendors will be coming from all over, including Klinkhammer Records in the Netherlands and Driptone Records of West Covina.

“I collect a lot of music from all over the world, so we have sellers from all over the world,” Waldfogel told LAist. “I think that’s always an interesting thing when you can find something you didn’t know existed, and it blows your mind, and you take it home, and now it’s going to be a treasured piece of the collection.”

More local shops like Amoeba and Record Safari also will have tables at the con. Waldfogel said he worked hard to find the right spot for VinylCon in L.A. Attendees will be able to shop on an upper level of the California Market Center downtown, with views of the L.A. skyline. Oh, and parking is $5.

Waldfogel said he estimates it will be the biggest record show in California this year, and he’s hoping to see all ages come out.

“I love to walk by a table and see a father and his daughter experiencing that digging of records together," he said. "You know, you see the daughter kind of clicking, ‘Oh, my dad’s pretty cool. He likes the same music.’ It’s just an awesome experience to get to see that.”

The DJ lineup for VinylCon! includes Cut Chemist and DJ Double Peas out of Las Vegas, who specializes in playing rare records.

Waldfogel expects about 1,000 people to come through the doors and dive into some crates each day.

VinylCon! is happening Saturday, Aug. 23, and Sunday, Aug 24, at the California Market Center in downtown L.A.
