LA County Animal Centers are open today, after big animal rescue from Lake Hughes facility
All 7 Los Angeles County Animal Care Centers will be open on for special adoption hours between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The decision to open on a Sunday follows a large-scale animal seizure from a Lake Hughes animal facility on Friday, where more than 300 cats and dogs were rescued in the operation.
L.A. County Animal Care and Control says the new arrivals are adding significant demand on their staff and resources. The animals from Friday's rescue aren't available for adoption yet, but county authorities say the public can help clear the centers now to make room for when they are ready to find forever homes.
The care centers will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

A previous version of the story incorrectly stated that the animals rescued from Lake Hughes are now available for adoption. That is not the case. We apologize for the error.
