Work to begin Monday on Rose Bowl Loop

The walkway around the Rose Bowl loop is to be widened to 13 feet, allowing 2-way travel. Walkway is on colored asphalt rather than a separate sidewalk, to allow motorist use during special events. Flexible delineator posts separate pedestrians from bicyclists and vehicular traffic.

PASADENA — Work crews will begin Monday the installation of a new dedicated walkway around the the Rose Bowl Loop.

The project will begin with slurry sealing on several streets around the Rose Bowl Loop, including Washington Boulevard, West Drive, Seco Street, Rosemont Avenue, Rose Bowl Drive and Parkview Avenue, according to Pasadena Public Information Officer Ann Erdman.

Once the sealing is completed, a tan-colored pedestrian walkway will be installed, Erdman said.

"Traffic delineators will be placed along the outside of the walkway to help separate walkers from other users and allow for two-way pedestrian travel,'' Erdman said. "The existing pedestrian restriction signs and messages will be removed.''

Work is expected to be completed by the middle of May on the project on the 3.3-mile recreational loop that has become popular among walkers, joggers, skaters, cyclists and others, Erdman said.
