Vigils for victims of violent crime to held throughout Inland Empire
Victims of violent crime will be the focus of several candlelight vigils throughout the Inland Empire. The first vigil is scheduled for tonight at Civic Center Park in Palm Desert.
It’s the fifth annual series of public remembrances; the Riverside County District Attorney's Office hosts them in conjunction with National Crime Victims Rights Week. At each vigil, people read aloud the names of county residents who’ve died in violent crimes in the past year.
The relatives who will talk about the effects of violent crime on their lives include Joseph Bonaminio. Last year an alleged carjacker killed his son, 26-year-old Ryan, a Riverside police officer.
Different people will attend the candlelight vigils, including one Wednesday night at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta and the final one on Thursday evening outside Riverside County district attorney headquarters. Each vigil starts at 7 o’clock.
