Trekking LA by taking the stairs
You can get to know the nooks and crannies of Los Angeles, by taking the stairs. A couple hundred long outdoor stairways line hillsides and cliffs across L.A. from Hollywood, to East L.A. to the oceanfront.
You can go exploring up and down the stairs and learn about the history of a myriad of different neighborhoods. This weekend, you can bring your friends and family for a free event. Its called the Big Parade L.A. It is a tour atop 100 staircases. (Audio: KPCC's Shirley Jahad went to the foot of a stairway in Northeast Los Angeles to talk about it with organizer Dan Koeppel.)
