'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' tops weekend box office
'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' tops weekend box office
"Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon," the summer blockbuster so far, continues soaring to new heights at the box office. Audiences can’t seem get enough of computer-generated robots gone bad.
Those big, bad Transformers continue trashing any other competitors who even think of taking over the top spot at the box office. With its $47 million weekend, “Transformers: Dark of The Moon” has become the biggest movie of the year in the U.S., grossing more than a quarter of a billion dollars for Paramount Pictures in just two weeks out of the gate.
The Warner Bros./New Line premiere of “Horrible Bosses” was promoted to second place, earning $28.1 million. New comedy “Zookeeper,” featuring talking animals giving sage dating advice to their caretaker, Kevin James, placed third, grossing $21 million for Sony Pictures.
Disney’s animated sequel “Cars 2” placed fourth, delivering $15.2 million. Film number 5 this week was the somewhat raunchy comedy “Bad Teacher” with Cameron Diaz at the head of the class – it earned $9 million for Sony.
