Sunset Boulevard reopened after crews repair ruptured water main
Most lanes on Sunset Boulevard were reopened Sunday morning after crews repaired a ruptured water main that forced the closure of all lanes in West Hollywood Saturday night.
The pipe spewed up to 9,000 gallons of water onto the street per minute until crews were able to backfill the rupture and reopen the stretch of the thoroughfare between Sweetzer Avenue and La Cienga Boulevard.
One westbound lane was reopened and both eastbound lanes were open Sunday, according to Kim Hughes, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. The westbound lane won't be repaved until Monday morning and will likely remain closed through Sunday, Hughes said.
