SpaceX rocket launches to International Space Station (updated)

Update 1:11 p.m. SpaceX launches rocket

SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft successfully launched Friday and are now in orbit, SpaceX tweeted.

Update April 18, 11:53 a.m. Rocket launching Friday 

After a delay earlier this week, SpaceX is launching their Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft for the CRS-3 mission to the International Space Station.

The launch takes place at 1 p.m. PDT with live video starting beforehand.

Update April 14, 1:17 p.m.

Shortly before Monday's planned launch, SpaceX announced the launch is delayed. 

SpaceX sent the following tweet:

SpaceX noted on their website that though April 18 is the next launch opportunity, the "weather on that date isn’t ideal."

Earlier:

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft are set to launch the CRS-3 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) for NASA Monday, SpaceX announced in a statement.

Liftoff is planned for 4:58 p.m. EDT from SpaceX’s Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

The Dragon spacecraft will be loaded with almost 5,000 pounds of supplies and science experiments for the ISS. If the voyage goes according to plan, the spacecraft will berth with the International Space Station around 7 a.m. EDT on Wednesday April 16.
