Secret police shooting, use of force records could be released with bill
Secret police shooting and use of force records could be released to the public if Gov. Brown signs a bill on his desk. California has long been among the most secretive states in the nation when it comes to officer conduct. The bill, SB 1421, would open up records of police shootings as well as use of force incidents resulting in death or great bodily injury. It would also permit disclosure of records of officers found to have lied or committed sexual assault.
