SB Sheriff's Dept. releases names of deputies involved in suspect's beating following horseback pursuit

A booking photo released by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department shows Francis Jared Pusok, who was arrested on suspicion of grand theft and felony reckless evasion of officers.

Authorities have released the names of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies who hit and kicked a suspect after he appeared to have surrendered following a pursuit last month.
Francis Pusok, 30, fled on horseback when confronted by deputies who were conducting an investigation at a home they thought was empty. Television news footage showed a number of deputies proceed to beat Pusok after he fell from the horse, which he had allegedly stolen.
The department quickly announced it was settling the case for $650,000, but the names of 10 deputies allegedly involved were initially withheld while the department investigated a series of threats it received via email, phone and social media.
On Monday, the sheriff's department released the deputies' names, adding that criminal and administrative investigations are continuing and the deputies remain on paid leave:
- Deputy Nicholas Downey, Victor Valley
- Deputy Scott Hamilton, Victor Valley
- Deputy David Moore, Victor Valley
- Deputy Dominic Moody, Victor Valley
- Detective William Doemner, Victor Valley
- Sergeant James Evans, Victor Valley
- Deputy Michael Phelps, Twin Peaks
- Deputy Raymond Perez, Twin Peaks
- Deputy Tyler McGee, Apple Valley
- Deputy Charles Foster, Hesperia
Two deputies were injured during the search for Pusok, according to the sheriff's department. Their injuries included abrasions, a twisted knee and a back injury from being struck by the horse.
Following the incident, Pusok was treated for minor injuries. His booking photo showed bruises on his face.

According to sheriff's officials, Pusok booked for Felony Evading, Theft of a Horse, Possession of Stolen Property and an active warrant for Reckless Driving. He was held on $115,000 bail. County records show he was released on bail on April 12.
