Record-breaking heat forecast for Thanksgiving week

Expecting a chill in the air this Thanksgiving? Forget about it.
Record-breaking heat is expected to descend upon Southern California this week just in time for the holiday.
Temperatures will peak Wednesday and Thursday due to a combination of high pressure and a weak offshore flow, said Richard Thompson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Wednesday's high is forecast at 92 degrees, while Thanksgiving day is expected to top out at 90.

Thompson said the region is also experiencing relatively dry conditions, so there will be an increased fire risk due to the wind and high temperatures.
"If a fire would get started it could grow to a decent size potentially, depending on the conditions," Thompson said.
Thompson recommends people "take it easy" over the next several days: Limit time outside during the day and drink plenty of water.
