Police officer injured, suspect dead in Wilmington shooting
A man is dead and a police officer is recovering after a shooting in Wilmington.
It happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday night, when officers received a call about a man with a gun.
"As the officers approached to make contact with him, several shots were fired and the suspect was struck," said LAPD spokesperson Norma Eisenman.
Fire department paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. One officer was treated at a hospital and released, according to authorities. It's still unclear how the shooting began, or how many shots were fired.
