Poizner, Whitman to visit Orange County today

Republican gubernatorial candidates Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner are scheduled to be in Orange County today, two weeks before the primary election.
Whitman, a former chief executive officer of eBay, is set to tour Super Color Digital, an Irvine printing company, and discuss her plan to bring jobs back to California.
Poizner, the state's insurance commissioner, plans to visit a campaign phone bank in Newport Beach tonight. He is also scheduled to speak at noon to the Palos Verdes Republican Women Federated in Palos Verdes Estates.
Whitman has pledged to help create 2 million private-sector jobs by 2015 by cutting taxes for job-creating businesses of every size; implementing targeted tax relief to strengthen manufacturing and create and retain high-paying jobs; lowering the capital gains tax; expanding research and development tax credits; exempting purchases of manufacturing equipment from state sales tax and establishing tax incentives and credits to train and hire displaced workers.
Poizner, the state's insurance commissioner, has proposed 10 percent cuts to the state's personal income tax rates, the sales tax rate and corporate tax rate, and a 50 percent cut in the capital gains tax rate to stimulate California's economy.
The Orange County visits come one day after both campaigns began broadcasting new television commercials.
The Whitman commercial consists of praise of her integrity, skills and fiscal conservatism from former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association President Jon Coupal.
