Pasadena Humane Society takes in animal evacuees from Station Fire
Pets and people need refuge from the wildfires. Ricky Whitman with the Pasadena Humane Society told KPCC’s Patt Morrison that her organization’s prepared to offer temporary shelter for many kinds of animals.
Whitman: "We are an open door facility here so we are prepared to take in any animal that needs help. We have cats, dogs, birds, rabbits. We even have a chinchilla and a bobcat here, several wild ducks, and a red-tailed hawk so far."
Whitman said homeowners who evacuate are relieved to take their animals to a safe place. The Humane Society conducts periodic drills to prepare for disasters like this. At this point, it’s fully staffed and operating in emergency mode.
