Oscar-winning actress Patricia Neal, 84, dies
Oscar-winning actress Patricia Neal has died at the age of 84, according to various news reports.
Neal who was known for her husky voice, died Sunday at her home on Martha's Vineyard in Edgartown, Mass., of lung cancer.
Neal, who was originally from Knoxville, Tenn., won an Oscar for best actress in a leading role for her performance in the 1964 movie "Hud," in which she co-starred with Paul Newman.
A year after winning her Oscar, Neal had three strokes which left her in a coma for three weeks, The New York Times reported.

Neal also had a lead role in the 1961 Oscar-winning film "Breakfast at Tiffany's," where she played the part of "2E."
Neal is survived by four children, Tessa, Ophelia, Theo and Lucy, her brother Pete Neal, sister Margaret Anne VanderNoord, and 10 grandchildren.
