Riverside police arrested a suspect last night in the slaying of officer Ryan Bonaminio. The suspected murderer Earl Green is a 44-year-old parolee and resident of nearby Rubidoux. A memorial service for the slain officer will take place next week.

A joint police and military funeral will be held for slain officer Ryan Bonaminio at Grove Community Church in Riverside next Tuesday. Several thousand people, including police officers from across the country, are expected to attend.

Bonaminio was shot and killed while chasing down a suspect who fled the scene of a hit-and-run crash near downtown Riverside.

The slain officer would have turned 28 on Thanksgiving. He joined the Riverside Police four years ago after a stretch in the Army.

Bonaminio is the first Riverside police officer killed in the line of duty in nearly 10 years. He will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery.
