New video shows San Bernardino school shooter moments before attack
The San Bernardino Police Department released security video from the April shooting at North Park Elementary School this week, showing the gunman arriving moments before he opened fire in a special needs classroom.
The video shows Cedric Anderson first trying to open the main door of North Park Elementary. It was locked, due to school policy. He then proceeds to the school office entrance. Anderson walks in, appearing calm.
Watch the video here (it does not show the shooting itself):
Because the campus staff was familiar with him and recognized him as the husband of Karen Smith, one of the school's teachers, he was allowed to sign in, San Bernardino Police Lt. Mike Madden told KPCC.
"He then made his way down the hallway, and unfortunately the tragedy then ensued," Madden said.
Anderson killed Smith and 8-year old student Jonathan Martinez before killing himself. Another student was shot, but recovered.
School officials have said security at North Park Elementary School has been tightened since the shooting.
