New state grants for community colleges to help formerly incarcerated students
College administrators say taking college classes is one of the best ways to keep a person from returning to prison, but many formerly incarcerated students who enroll in college face psychological, academic and financial roadblocks. A new grant program with $5 million in available funds is helping colleges pay for additional help for this student population.
