Metro opens mobile command center for Century Crunch traffic construction

Metro announced Monday that it's setting up a mobile command center for this weekend's Century Crunch near Los Angeles International Airport.
During the weekend long construction, crews will demolish an old railroad bridge at Aviation and Century boulevards to make way for the Crenshaw/LAX light rail line.
"Our mobile operation center is going to be parked nearby the construction area so that we'll be able to keep an eye on it," said Anna Chen, a Metro spokeswoman. "It'll be providing live-streaming video, and then we'll make sure we can put up the latest news as soon as it happens throughout the weekend."
The Department of Homeland Security funded the $1.2 million mobile command center.
Heavy traffic is expected throughout the weekend. GO511.com will have the latest traffic conditions in the area during the demolition. There's also an app available with traffic information, or simply call 511 and say "Century Crunch" after the automated greeting to get that info.
The Century Crunch begins 9 p.m. Friday and will continue until 6 a.m. Monday.
