Tickets are on sale for a concert to raise money for the family of a Moreno Valley teenager who was murdered in July. Authorities are still looking for Norma Lopez' killer. Some of the proceeds from the concert will go to a reward.

Alien Art Farm and P.O.D. headline the “Never Again” concert. The platinum-selling bands have ties to the Inland Empire.

"My heart goes out to Norma, her family and friends. I have a daughter and can't even imagine how Norma's parents feel," said Alien Ant Farm drummer Mike Cosgrove in a press release. "We have a lot of friends that went to Valley View High School through the years and have used that same shortcut. It's tragic and frightening."

After summer school classes, Lopez often cut through a vacant field to get home. Authorities believe the 17-year-old was abducted from that field six weeks ago. Her body was found several days later in another part of Moreno Valley. Earlier this week, authorities searched a Moreno Valley home and impounded a vehicle — but they haven’t arrested any suspects.

The money raised by the concert will go to the Lopez family — and to a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever killed Norma Lopez.

The “Never Again” Norma Lopez memorial concert will feature Alien Ant Farm, P.O.D., Butterscotch, Adam Lasher Band, Paloma & D.J. Ace, September 17 at Moreno Valley College, 12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else.
