Man charged with murder in Chatsworth street racing crash
Henry Gevorgyan has been charged with murder in the Chatsworth street racing crash that left two pedestrians dead and one person critically injured.
Kate Hardie, Gevorgyan's attorney, says she holds evidence that he was not driving the vehicle, a Mustang, at the time of the crash.
"The idea of filing murder charges in a street racing case is pretty extreme," Hardie told KPCC.
Gevorgyan is the registered owner of the car that crashed, but allegedly was not inside the car during the race.
"There's a video that has been widely posted that shows Henry [Gevorgyan] in between the two cars flashing flash lights so that the cars start driving," Hardie said.
Gevorgyan turned himself into custody to clear his name after media speculated that he was the driver, she said.
Gevorgyan is currently still in custody.
The DA's office declined to do radio interviews at this time.
