3.1-magnitude earthquake hits Newport Beach
Preliminary reports show a 3.1-magnitude earthquake hit the Newport Beach area Sunday afternoon. It was followed by a 2.2-magnitude aftershock in the same area.
The USGS says the initial quake hit at 3:22 p.m. More than 700 people have reported feeling it, according to its website.
On Twitter, people from Costa Mesa to Irvine shared tweets about the quake.
