Magic Johnson makes move to acquire BlackBook Media

Magic Johnson is taking a shot at BlackBook Media nearly a year after the NBA Hall of Famer purchased Vibe Holdings and became its chariman.
The retired Los Angeles Lakers all-star has again partnered with supermarket magnate Ron Burkle, this time in a bid to acquire BlackBook and its “Access Network” content management and distribution technology platform, reports Fishbowl LA. "The move puts Johnson at the head of Vibe, Uptown and Blackbook magazines."
Access Network technology is currently being used by over 100 media outlets including Maxim Guides, MTV’s “Jersey Shore” Guides, Bravo!’s Top Chef Guide and others, notes the New York Post.
Also a prospect for Johnson's portfolio: The Los Angeles Dodgers. The basketball legend has partnered with a group aimed at purchasing the team.
