Free Wi-Fi pilot program set for Los Angeles city parks

The Los Angeles Parks Department announced a new free wireless Internet program in six city parks this week.
The free Wi-Fi is set to be tested at Venice Beach, Griffith Observatory, Pershing Square, Echo Park Lake, Cabrillo Beach and Reseda Park, according to a Parks Department press release.
The release notes that the Wi-Fi will be available in designated hotspot areas at the park. The new Wi-Fi program is sponsored by Toyota.
They also announced a new mobile website that lets the public make service requests to the Parks' construction and maintenance division, according to the press release.
The announcement was made with L.A. City Council members Tom LaBonge, Bob Blumenfield and Mitch O'Farrell. A press conference to officially launch the free Wi-Fi and mobile website is set to be held Thursday at Griffith Observatory.
