LA2024 asks the world to 'Follow the Sun' with Olympic logo
The logo for Los Angeles' 2024 Olympic bid shows an athlete rising up toward the sun. Revealed on Tuesday the logo, along with the slogan "Follow the Sun," was revealed during a LA2024 press conference.

As a candidate city for the 2024 Summer Olympics, Los Angeles is asking the world to "Follow the Sun" to Southern California.
The logo to be used in the city's bid for the games was revealed on Tuesday evening by LA2024, the L.A. bid committee, in a press conference. The committee was joined by L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti and several Olympians and Olympic hopefuls.
Casey Wasserman, LA2024 chair, said that the logo represents the optimistic personality of the city.
"The logo and films you will see today are tangible reflections of who we are as a bid, who we are as a city and what we offer that is distinctly valuable to the Olympic movement," Wasserman said.
He said that the figure depicted in the logo is an athlete rising upward into the promise of the sun.
"There is no stronger image for our City of Angels than its sunny ideal weather, and there's no stronger metaphor for reinvention than our city's biggest star: the sun," Wasserman said.
Mayor Garcetti spoke at the press conference, confidently expressing his belief in L.A.'s ability to reimagine the future.

"The Olympic games don't require a leap of faith — the Olympic games require a leap of imagination," Garcetti said. "I believe that no city on Earth does imagination the way we do here in Los Angeles."
