LA sheriff says, use a gun, no more early release from jail
Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell announced Thursday that people found guilty of using a gun to commit a crime will have to serve their full sentences. The policy change also applies to those convicted of illegal possession of a weapon. McDonnell expressed frustration that many convicted of these crimes serve just a small fraction of their sentences because of overcrowding.
