LA Kings announcer Bob Miller retires after 44 years

The career of long-time Los Angeles Kings announcer Bob Miller comes to an end tonight.
For 44 years, Miller was the voice of Los Angeles Hockey, calling his first game against the Chicago Blackhawks in 1973.
The Kings gave him a parting victory as he called his final home game Saturday. The team beat the Blackhawks 3-2 in overtime at Staples Center.

Miller says he couldn't think of a better ending.
“It's almost like the home run that Scully called at Dodger Stadium, you know? It was perfect the way it happened,” Miller told our media partner NBC4.
The game was also marked by Bob Miller Appreciation Night. Fans left messages for the beloved announcer on a wall outside Staples Center.

In a letter to fans, Miller recounted this cherished memory of his time with the Kings.

"I will always remember the thrill of all of us cheering as the Kings set numerous records and won their first Stanley Cup in 45 years in 2012."
