Keeping his holiday tradition, Brown pardons 127
Governor Jerry Brown is handing out holiday presents to over one hundred strangers this year: He announced Tuesday that he was granting 127 pardons — just in time for Christmas.
The individuals granted pardons all completed their sentences and have been released from custody for more than a decade without further criminal activity, according to a press release from Brown's office. Of the 127, 93 had been convicted of possessing, transporting or selling marijuana and other controlled substances, reports the The Sacramento Bee.
Pardoning during the holidays has become a tradition in the Brown office. On the Eve of Easter this year, Brown pardoned 65 felons. And last Christmas Eve, Brown pardoned 79 convicted criminals.
