Isla Vista: UCSB student arrested with 7 guns, 1,000 rounds of ammo

A gunshot was fired through an apartment wall Tuesday afternoon and a University of California, Santa Barbara student was arrested for illegally discharging a gun, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department.
The UCSB student arrested was Kevin Tym, 21. The bullet was shot through the wall from Tym's apartment and narrowly missed the person inside the neighboring apartment, deflecting off a TV stand and lodging in a wall, according to the Sheriff's Department.
Tym admitted to authorities that he was playing with the Glock 17 he legally owned, according to the Sheriff's Department, and said he'd accidentally fired the gun. Tym was found in possession of seven firearms, which were all legally owned and 1,000 rounds of ammo, along with illegal high-capacity assault rifle magazines.
Tym's guns, ammunition and magazines were all seized, according to the Sheriff's Department, and he was booked on $2,5000 bail for negligent discharge of a firearm and possession of high-capacity magazines.
