'Hop' tops weekend box office
An animated Easter bunny wins the box office race this weekend.
“Hop” jumps to the top of the box office. The combination computer-animated/live-action family comedy features the voice of Russell Brand as the reluctant new Easter bunny taking refuge with an adult slacker. It arrives with a bigger basket of box office dollars than expected, debuting with more than $38 million.
All three top movies this weekend are new releases. The terror action thriller "Source Code" stars Jake Gyllenhaal and opens second with more than $15 million. The haunted house tale "Insidious" creeps out with more than $13 million.
The top movie last weekend "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules” is number four this weekend. It brought more than $10 million. And the sci-fi thriller "Limitless" is number five with more than $9 million.
