Holcomb Fire now 65 percent contained
Firefighters appear to be getting the upper hand on the Holcomb Fire in the San Bernardino National Mountains.
It's burned more than 1,500 and is 65 percent contained. U.S. Forest spokeswoman Rebecca Miller says crews have faced a number of challenges since the fire broke out on Monday.
"One would be the small heat wave that we are experiencing at this time, as well as the terrain," she told KPCC. "They're starting to get into some mountain and steep terrain there."
Some roads in the area are still closed, though Highway 18 has reopened Friday morning. Investigators are still looking into what may have sparked the fire, and are seeking tips from the public.
