Fullerton officer shot multiple times during traffic stop
An Orange County police officer was shot and wounded while approaching a driver during a traffic stop early Sunday morning.
The shooting occurred at 12:13 a.m. at Woods and Knepp avenues in a residential neighborhood in Fullerton.
Police spokesman Jeff Stuart said in a statement the officer was shot multiple times as he approached the driver's side window.
"The driver produced a handgun and fired at the officer striking him multiple times," Stuart said. "The officer was able to return fire, but it's unknown if anyone in the vehicle was struck."
