A 42-year-old woman faces up to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty last week to having sexual relations with a male inmate at the California prison where she worked.

Renee Noelle Gutierrez of Redondo Beach was a prison dorm supervisor responsible for more than 500 inmates at the Federal Correctional Complex in Lompoc, according to the U.S. District Attorney's Office.

She quit her position after the sexual conduct was uncovered, but before being indicted by a federal grand jury last August.

Gutierrez faces charges for sexual abuse of a ward. She is due to be sentenced by March 26.
