Family Sky: 'Cosmos' finds new life with Neil deGrasse Tyson and Seth MacFarlane
"Cosmos" is expanding. A panel of otherworldly experts and entertainment executives met this week in Griffith Park to answer questions about the legacy of Carl Sagan and the reboot of his seminal science series.
The original series was made in the late '70s and aired in 1980. It was far reaching in concept and in execution with 13 episodes, documentary-style, with special effects and animation. The series was made interesting, by design, to communicate complex subjects to a wide audience of people who may not have had any preexisting interest in science. It’s considered one of the most-watched and widely watched public TV programs in history.
The new series begins Sunday, March 9, on all 10 Fox and National Geographic channels, 220 channels internationally, in 181 countries, with an overall footprint, according to Fox, of half a billion homes.
