Evacuation orders lifted for areas affected by High Fire
Evacuation orders were lifted early Monday for residents in Lucerne Valley whose homes were threatened by the High Fire, which has so far scorched 170 acres in San Bernardino County's High Desert.
The affected areas include High Road north of Sutter Street, south of Santa Rosa Road and west of Buena Vista Road. People who have evacuated are free to go home, CalFire’s Debbie Chapman told KPCC.
The fire started Sunday afternoon in Lucerne Valley. By midday Monday it was 45 percent contained, with 200 firefighters working the front lines, Chapman said.
“We stopped the forward rate of spread,” Chapman said. “We do have equipment reinforcing the perimeter line and extinguishing any hot spots.”
Homes are no longer threatened and there are no reported injuries.
