Encino man charged for 3 pipe bombs found in his car near Northridge
Los Angeles County prosecutors Friday charged an Encino man in connection with the discovery of three pipe bombs in his car during a traffic stop earlier this week in Northridge.
David Patton, 52, pleaded not guilty this afternoon in court to four felony counts.
"He is facing three counts of possession of a destructive device on a public street or highway and one count of transportation of a controlled substance, methamphetamine," L.A. County District Attorney spokesman Greg Rislinge told KPCC.
The discovery of the pipe bombs Wednesday prompted authorities to shut down the intersection or Reseda Bouleveard and Devonshire Street for hours. Nearby residents and businesses were evacuated.
Patton is being held on $530,000 bail. He faces up to six years and eight months in jail if convicted.
Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated the length of Patton's potential sentence.
