Music fans across the globe are rejoicing! Tickets for the 2010 Coachella Valley Music Festival are now on sale - even though it's not clear who'll be in the show.

For the first time, Coachella organizers are selling three-day passes weeks before they've confirmed who'll play.

Recent Coachella headliners include Paul McCartney, Prince, The Cure and Radiohead.

The passes go for $269, but recession conscious music fans can pay in installments through a layaway plan. Single-day tickets for the April festival probably won't go on sale for another month or so.

As usual, rumors abound as to who might grace the festival stages. The rumored short list (and remember these are just rumors) includes Devo, British “shoegaze” rockers Muse and The Beastie Boys, recently sidelined by a band members illness.

The festival is known for staging seemingly impossible reunions.

That includes past performances by long defunct bands like Rage Against the Machine and My Bloody Valentine.

This year there’s chatter of a resurrection of Indie-rock darling Pavement, and maybe an appearance of post-punk legend Public Image Ltd, or PiL.

The band, led by Sex Pistol singer John Lydon, a.k.a. Johnny Rotten, recently reformed for a string of shows in England. Pil has not played a show in the U.S. for about 20 years.

The 2010 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival happens April 16-18 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio.

Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.
