Brush fire breaks out north of 118 Freeway, near county line
A brush fire was threatening structures this afternoon near the Los Angeles/Ventura County border near Simi Valley.
The blaze was reported at 3:16 p.m. just north of the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, near Rocky Peak Fire Road, and quickly grew to about 10 acres as it spread to the north, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
By 4:30 p.m., an unknown number of structures were threatened, but none had been damaged, Scott said, adding that more than 100 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
It was unclear whether evacuations would be ordered, but no injuries were immediately reported, he said.
