The popular arts and culture show "Q" will continue with guest hosts following the departure of its longtime host and co-creator Jian Ghomeshi.  The CBC, which produces Q, announced Sunday that it was firing Ghomeshi after "information came to our attention that in CBC's judgment precludes us from continuing our relationship with Jian.”  SCPR will continue to air the show at 10 pm, Monday through Thursday.

Ghomeshi published a statement on Facebook, saying his firing came over concerns of sexual misconduct in his personal life.  He is contesting his departure and says he will sue the broadcaster for $50 million.

Tonight's program opens with an essay from host Brent Bambury, asking listeners to keep tuning in on behalf of the team working on it.  "I know for many of you who love and look forward to this show, this is a very hard day. I understand that, because I'm one of those people, too. I love Q for the same reasons you do," Bambury said.

He continued:

But remember, there are dozens of people who work hard to bring you Q. They, individually and collectively, share in the success of this show. They're a big part of Q's intellect and heart.

They're still here, they're still committed, and they're committed to bring you the best show they can.

On Sunday, The Toronto Star published claims from three women of unwanted sexual violence with Ghomeshi, but in a statement posted to his Facebook account, he said the allegations were part of a smear campaign.

For now, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation will continue to produce the show, PRI will continue to distribute, and KPCC will continue to air it.
