Temecula Valley councilman Fred Twyman, 46, dies unexpectedly
The Riverside County coroner’s office is investigating the death of Menifee vice-mayor Fred Twyman. Twyman collapsed at his home Wednesday night and died at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
The 46-year-old councilman and high school math teacher won a seat on Menifee’s inaugural city council following its incorporation three years ago. Before that Twyman held a seat on the Menifee Union School District.
He was a big proponent of merging Menifee Union’s K-through-8 district with Paloma Valley High, where he taught.
Fred Twyman’s death follows two weeks after Menifee mayor Wallace Edgerton disclosed that he has lung disease. Twyman was presiding as acting mayor in Edgerton’s absence.
Last week the city council changed its regular meeting time so Twyman could attend his daughter’s high school graduation. In a short statement, the City of Menifee extended condolences to the Twyman family.
