2-year-old girl in critical condition after being trapped under fallen tree limb

A 2-year-old girl was sent to a local hospital Tuesday after a large eucalyptus tree branch fell and trapped her beneath it, authorities told KPCC.
The girl left the site of the fallen tree — the Linda Vista Children's Center in Pasadena — in critical condition shortly after noon.
Lisa Derderian, a spokeswoman for the Pasadena Fire Department, said two other children were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
"The cause is under investigation, and we hope and pray that the two-year-old in critical condition does improve," Derderian said.
Aerial video collected by KTLA showed the two toddlers with minor injuries heading into the medial center on their own, holding hands with a parent or caregiver.
The Linda Vista Children's Center website says it is a non-profit development center that provides programs for infants through pre-kindergarten children.
A group of soccer players also narrowly avoided injury earlier this month when a huge tree limb fell near where they were sitting at Villa Parke in Pasadena, Derderian said. The Los Angeles Times reported that the limb crushed a bench near the six players, who were all first-year college students.
