Inhabitants of Los Angeles, kick off your boots. The first rainfall of the season is almost over. It was beautiful and frightening. Let's review.

Up to half an inch of rain fell in parts of Los Angeles Wednesday, according to Tom Fisher, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Depending on where you live, your first #LARain experience may have varied.

As of 2:30 p.m. Downtown Los Angeles received 0.43 inches of rain. At one point in the morning, all hail broke loose as tiny ice pellets pelted the area. The event was captured on social media.

Elsewhere in Los Angeles County: Burbank received 0.29 inches of rain, east Pasadena received 0.24 inches, and Arcadia received 0.39 inches. NWS has weather stations in these cities. But at NWS's station at LAX, only 0.01 inches of rain had fallen. You read that right: one one-hundredth of an inch.

L.A. can expect scattered storms for the rest of Wednesday evening and through most of the night. The weather pattern that brought the precipitation will "slow down" and give way to "a weekend of normal temperatures," Fisher said. That means sunshine and temperatures in the 70s.

But don't store away your umbrellas and rain jackets yet. Forecasters are keeping an eye on a weather system that could bring more rainfall to the region by Wednesday of next week.

In conclusion, today's rainfall may have differed but that didn't stop people on social media from freaking out all the same. Below is a sampling of the social outpouring. Start preparing your reactions now for the next round of rain.
