Hot. Cold. Hot. Cold. Today is hot. But tomorrow is cold. No, really
We've been experiencing some whiplash weather, alternating between hot and cold and hot and cold. The trend continues this weekend, with a mini heat wave that started on Friday and will peak Saturday with temperatures between 90 and 103 degrees in inland Southern California.
Sunday will cool down a bit, but a real drop in weather is expected Monday.
What’s with the sudden Summer heat?
Todd Hall with the National Weather Service says it’s pretty normal, despite how puzzling it is to us Angelenos. Hall called this phenomenon, spring.
“We can have some hot air masses develop, and then next week it may end up being much cooler. This is what springtime is in the southwestern United States”.
Next week is expected to be cooler with temperatures dipping into 60s and 70s by Tuesday and clouds bringing possible showers too.
The weather service says this current heat wave will be short-lived, but its rapid onset is a good warning of our transition into the coming fire season as grasses start to dry.
“The deserts and out towards the San Gabriel range eastern slopes… would be the most concern of potential for some grass fires that could develop," Hall said.
Before then, take advantage of the clear air and sunny weather to head to the beach and bask in the sun.
