The LA Food Swap was launched in March 2011, and met with great success. Its founder, food writer Emily Ho, banded together with other swap organizers around the country and worked to put together an online portal for food swappers. The Food Swap Network launched Monday.

Californians are one step closer to voting on a ballot initiative requiring labeling of genetically engineered foods. Last week, the coalition It's Our Right To Know filed a ballot initiative with the California Attorney General's office. Volunteers must collect at least 850,000 signatures by April 2012 in order to place the initiative on the November 2012 state ballot.

Awww, yeah! Coolhaus is finally opening the doors of their Los Angeles brick-and-mortar shop today, and nothing says celebration like free ice cream sandwiches. Coolhaus will give them out tonight at the new shop between 6 and 7 p.m.

It's time to toss that salad out again. Ready Pac Foods, which is based in Irwindale, is voluntarily recalling 5,379 cases of bagged salad that have romaine lettuce in them.
