More LA spots to try
  • Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and the concept of "romance" is being pummeled into us all from every possible front, including where we eat. Now OpenTable has released a list of the 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America, and five Los Angeles-area spots made the grade.
  • The collective of street food vendors who used to operate as the Breed Street Food Fair were forced to close down in 2009, but several of the vendors are hoping to resume operations legally in Boyle Heights at a planned evening farmers' market.
  • Burger lovers from behind the Orange Curtain, it's your time to shine! A Banh mi burger, fare from a favorite SoCal chain, the concoction of a gastropub... All's fair in love and the all mighty hamburger wars, including in the OC.
  • Spinach isn't necessarily a winter green, but in temperate winter areas like southern California, we get to enjoy it now. The spinach above is an heirloom variety that is quite toothy and probably best steamed or sautéed, but we also have sellers at the Hollywood Farmer's Market who specialize in young leafy varieties that are great for salads.
  • While there are plenty of bars and restaurants that will have their TVs on and airing the game, a few Los Angeles-area places have come up with some specials to add some cheer to the day, and we've got our picks for seven spots where watching the Super Bowl is bound to be delicious.
  • Has the comfort food bubble burst, or is this restaurant closing story just another case of landlord-tenant strife? The latter seems to be the case when it comes to the impending shutter of Mac & Cheeza, the Downtown eatery that specialized in macaroni and cheese.
