More LA spots to try
  • Normally when we think of post-workout snacks, our minds go to juice bars and Muscle Milk. But an upcoming event over at Machine Project called Aerobic Butter / Anaerobic Bread is hoping to change that, combining a Richard Simmons-style workout with making artisan products.
  • A few writers aren't so pleased with all the attention L.A. has been getting in the media recently. Quite frankly, we'd rather have them hate from polar sides of the state. Less traffic for us, anyway.
  • To thank the local community their support over the years, Mulberry Street will be selling 20 cent slices throughout the day at all 4 locations, with proceeds benefiting the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
  • Tonight the Baja series at Playa ends with lauded Baja guest chef Javier Plascencia, who has been credited with spearheading the revival of Tijuana cuisine, and has gotten all sorts of props from the likes of the New Yorker to the New York Times for his restaurant Mision 19.
  • The wine-centric film that boosted the cred of the Central Coast has been turned into a play that's showing in Santa Monica. Wine tastings for guests are part of the ticket fees, of course.
  • Welcome to the wild, wild west, where our taps are tops and our town is one helluva place to go for great beer. So says GQ magazine, who recently put Los Angeles on their list of the 5 Best Beer Cities, deeming us the "New Frontier of Beer." Cheers to that!
