World-Famous Craft Brewer Mikkeller Is Coming To Downtown L.A.

World-renowned Danish craft brewer Mikkeller is expanding their international empire—which includes outposts in Copenhagen, Tokyo, Iceland, Seoul and San Francisco—with a new DTLA location coming soon.Chuck Stilphen, who owns the San Francisco location as well as Oakland's excellent The Trappist, tells Eater LA that he'll be collaborating once again with Mikkeller head-honcho Mikkel Borg Bjergsø for the Los Angeles spot, which will be in the century-old Discount Tire Center building at Olympic Boulevard and Olive Street.
Despite their acclaim and global presence, Mikkeller doesn't operate their own brewery, but instead collaborates with other breweries in when creating their micro- and experimental-brews. Their bars each have dozens of microbrews from around the world available on tap or in bottles (including their own, of course). Mikkeller' Los Angeles bar will have space for 50 taps, have a menu for both lunch and dinner, as well as a coffee bar in the A.M.
Bjergsø, by the way, has a twin brother who also is a craft brewer. They don't get along.
Expect L.A.'s own Mikkeller Bar to open within a year.
